NW is Dismal

Twelve guys who are long time hunters of the NW recently hunted for two days with eight dogs and bagged a total of two pheasants. They hunted the same ground as last year when they bagged 40, which isn't great at less than half a limit per gun. There it is.

Can I ask what you consider NW? I think to me that is likely west of rooks and Phillips and maybe west of Graham and Norton? I’m not sure if the definitions have changed or just my perception but interested in your NW definition.

Bob?

NW Kansas to me is Norton/Decatur county area and west. I have family with a farm up there and the birds are not in good shape this year.

Flushed a few in Sw Kansas today shot one. Bird flew fine looks fine but was skin and bones. Literally out of the hundreds, maybe thousands of pheasants I have killed or cleaned I have never seen anything like this one. Came from a great area with lots of food and year around water. Called Emporia to get it to the disease specialist.
