guess I never gave it a thought. why not use the cheaper steel shot that you can buy for ducks, they are pretty cheap, probably #6's but should work just fine.
going to a flower field Chad?
The state has 3-4 fields down in the West Mineral Wildlife Area, always has a lot of birds, but boy is it crowded.
Never thought about the shells, bet they are hard to find. If a guy could find a case or two, he could make some money Monday morning!!
Good luck, and don't let those boys of yours out shoot you this year!!
I live at Fort Riley. The best deal I have found is Rogers or Macks Praire wings and use the free shipping. Last year no one could get Steel around here so I stocked up early. They are really good about quick shipping. Just my 2 cents. Last year I saw folks shooting steel 2s at Doves because it was all they could find. Looks like we might have a good shoot this year.
I found a BUNCH in Wamego at the Trading Post. I happened to be talking to a game warden yesterday about the fields in his area and he asked if I was having any trouble finding NT shot; he told me about the TP. Its a neat place to visit if you've never seen it. Check their hours first though b/c they're only open a few hours/day.
Thanks to everyone who replied! That's what makes UPH so great:thumbsup:
Shhhh! Hopefully there isn't a lot of the shelves around KC. Makes the dove fields a little less crowded except for those who prepare!
Last year we went to a non-tox field at Hillsdale, and nobody was there in the afternoon. I had some, but my friends busted out their 3 inch duck loads. No doves were flying, so we pushed it like a pheasant hunt and kicked up quite a few.
Warning, we got checked going into the field and out of the field by different agents, better make sure your gun is plugged and you only have steel shot on the managed dove fields.
