Any early reports? There is good cover in my part of the state. Good cover plus decent moisture throughout the year equals birds! My glasses 1/2 FULL!

The cover around Valentine was great. Only saw 5 Sharpies in about 12 miles this weekend. I'm not certain that the numbers are that low, I'm still figuring things out.

Cover is better than an average year! Hard to find the grouse.
I want to tell all you boys something. I have hunted in southeast Nebraska since 1969 when I was a ver young boy. We had some epic hunts thru the very early 90s that would rival anything I ever did in South Dakota , North Dakota , or Montana. The pheasants were amazing and simply off the charts.Quail were just an add on on but everywhere. Now I still have a decent quail hunt and a few pheasant but nothing like it was. The weather in Southeast Nebraska in that February storm three years ago really hurt them. Now the Bobs are really bouncing back and the pheasants seem to be coming back a little. Anyway. I want you friends to know I have lived it for 50 years every year and I know what I’m talking about. Nebraska has some work to do. Nothing like it was in the the 70s when you would drive by a plumb thicket and their be 30 or 50 pheasants in it. Lord I am glad he blessed me to see it.
