No early Chicken Hunters?

Any of you Kansans been out chicken hunting yet. Been open since the 15th and haven't heard of anyone getting out on here. I had some friends out there shooting coyotes on ground that they deer hunt on. I guess they saw p. chickens flying into a field 2 mornings in a row. So they went and got a chicken tag and pass shot 2 on the third day. One was a real nice male that the guy is mounting. They killed 14 coyotes in 3 days. I may come out on sunday and monday to give it a go.

Pup is only 11 weeks old. I don't think she is quite ready to chase chickens just yet. Still working on learning her name and just enjoying life. She has shown quite a bit of interest in the tame chickens in the coop though.:D

That aint gonna work but i will definitely be out on the 8th, 9th, and 10th. Gotta love my 4 day school week. Mondays are hunt days. Supposed to have a cold front coming through too. Should be a little easier on the pups.

It's been too hot and rained all last weekend. I'm supposed to go to the Nebraska game this weekend so maybe I'll try the following if the weather is nice.

Finally cooled down yesterday. Got in the upper 90's near 100 a week or two ago and Humid AF I'll pass on hunting at that time :)

Took a couple of young dogs not conditioned to gunfire out and walked a pasture , flushed a limit of doves out of a hemp patch , then a brood of bobwhites and then 2 chickens shortly after that . Left the gun in the truck so I didn't booger the pups . Hope this is upward trend in upland bird numbers .

We are headed out the 2nd to last week of season .

I hear ya on busy life. Softball season is coming to an end for me. In a pretty tough district so in reality I think we will be done after next week. Unless I can get my pitcher to strike em all out! I'm more than ready to deal with female dogs in the field rather than female teenagers on the field!

There really seems to be more chickens this year. I hunted today and got my 2 bird limit in a short walk . It was pretty lucky really. They were not far of the road in some great cover. One real nice male that stuck like glue for a point and another young male. Only walked one pasture but found 5 chickens in it.

I did manage to make a stop on my way back from Nebraska last week to hit one pasture. One bird in it but it flushed very wild. From what I can tell the numbers are up. Good luck to all heading out this weekend!

Only made it out once, didn't see many as I had hoped. Taz worked great and gave me opportunities on two, let one get away.
