Nice Afternoon Hunt

I just got back from hunting a "walk-in" area this afternoon for about 3 hours. The 'walk-in" area was a half section and I had it all to myself. As you can see by the picture it was a successfull day. 1 rooster and 2 sharpies. Could of maybe had my limit of pheasants but the other roosters I saw all flushed ahead and our of range. I was surprised to jump 4 grouse. But I got a double with my Citori White Lightning 16 ga.

The grass is thick and lush in these areas and it makes for some tough walking. While you may not get a limit or a lot of birds up there still can some good hunting on public land.

Was it pretty wet where you were hunting? Sounds like you had a good day.

It was very wet. You just can't avoid all the water. Even the grassy areas where it appears dry once you walk into them you are in water.

Thanks for the report...glad you had a good day....since it has been a bit warm...I am assuming birds arent holding close but coming up in front of the dogs?

George, Sounds like you had a good time. I looked at the photo and that pup of yours is looking better all the time. Thank you for the report and pic,Tony and I will be out Saturday, I hope we do as well......Bob

Congrats. Thanks for sharing the pics. Nice looking dogs. Just don't get no better!:10sign:

Sounds like you had a great hunt. Great looking dogs too. I love liver and white brittanys. She's not a french brittany is she? My cousin has a french brittany, and its face looks just like your dog's face.

Here's my Brittany Gauge with his hunting buddy Jake.

Chadsbritt, The face on your Britt looks just like my Britt Tony. Only he is a Orange and white........Bob

chadsbritt,

No, she is not a French Britt, she's an American Britt. But she does knd of look like one and has the same shorter body of the Frenchies. Length = height. What they refer to as a "cobby" appearance. My orange/white pup has a longer body.

Chad, I have had Britts for about 40 years, and I love them more with each hunting trip......Bob

Gaue is my first brittany; actually my first bird dog. He's 3.5 now and I sure am glad I went with a brittany. I'm sure I would love many other breeds, but after having Gauge, it's sure going to be hard to get me to buy a different breed.
