New Shotgun

I've been hearing that (SX3) a lot lately...

So while getting directions, from my Habitat Expert over on the Miss, I emailed him about my gun thinking.. He's kind of a rough old Cajun, has books out on habitat, hunting, and etc though, and he emailed back some choice words about all them fancy guns and said he wouldn't paddle a boat with em. Stepped outside and took a picture of his gun.

My new 12 gauge M37 ultralight is the bomb. I've been shooting doves with it and shot a preserve yesterday for pheasant. It shoots real nice.

HEY don't be shy about speaking up and telling me I don't know what I'm talking about! Tungsten and Bismark aren't what I thought it was.... Maybe I'll just shoot Heavyshot out of that 1100. Just let the end of the barrel errode for shooting over decoys...

So late last night, when I couldn't sleep, I got my dad's gun out. It's a Sportsman 48. Looks like the barrel is showing May 61 (K B) but I think he bought it in the 50's and put that barrel on there later. The barrel has several chokes, if I can find them, right now it's a fat muffler vented (Cutts) thing ha ha. Dad died a year ago, now I have the thought to ask him all these questions. Still remember (I was a child) him knocking down 5 quail with 3 shots from that gun, same choke...

I'll second JMac on the Maxus. I've shot mine for 3 years now and love it--3.5" down to 1 oz skeet loads-no problems. And it's 7 lbs. The Win SX3 is pretty close to the same gun, built on the same production line.

I shot at a preserve a few weeks ago and killed 4 pheasant without needing a second shoot (2 of them were long). That M37 points nice. I shoot my nova equally well but I absolutely hate that gun.

Just buy another barrel. When steel first came out and the quality was poor we shot cases of steel through our 1100s (once we figured out how to modify the gas ports so they'd cycle) with no damage at all. Unless you are shooting a full choke don't sweat it.

Talked with a gun guy (outdoor store owner) who's makes sense to me. He says the same thought on the barrell not erroding. Anyway I've been popping doves like they were clay pigeons. So he sold me 6 Shot, Wingmaster HD's. I'll try that Black Eagle, but I'm looking fwd to shooting the Heavy Loads.
