As far a price and with the dependability the be a good bird gun which one would work: Remington Versa Max or Winchester SX3?

Both excellent guns. i think the Vera Max has the best features with stainless mag tube and all springs. A better more reliable gas system with less recoil. Again both are good guns. the SX3 is a little lighter and would carry better on those long days.

I personally like Remington. I'm saving up right now for a versa max. I have an 870 Wingmaster and an 11-48 semi auto from 1952. Both guns are old and have full choke barrels, but they still bring birds down. I've always kinda been set in my ways about "dancin' with the one that brought you". I've always had really good luck with Remington so I see no reason to look anywhere else. From everything I've read and heard about them, they're a very versatile gun if you intend on both upland and waterfowl hunting.

Yes sir, dang I was using 6 shot high brass winchester ammo it it wasnt knocking the game farm birds down, is remingtons ammo as good as thier guns?

That I can't say for sure, I usually shoot Federal ammo, right now I'm shooting Prairie Storm.

Thats what I heard the pheasant loads are good so are the waterfowl loads. Im looking at the Stoeger M3000 looks good imput anyone?

I would get the remington versa max..Remington is a great company..not to mention the Remingtons are made and manufactured here in the states. .I do not believe Winchesters are anymore.. That means something to me and would be a deciding factor between 2 similar guns...Guess that makes me a homer but I dont care!

My hunting partner got a versa max from Remington to demo when they first came out. He had nothing but problems with it from day one. If it was my money, I would go with the Winchester!!

The Versa Max did have some issues when they first came out and Remington corrected the issues. I have since bought one and it is absolutely a great gun and shoot great. I use mine for turkey and waterfowl and no complaints after about 20 boxes through the gun. Of course it is MADE IN THE USA!!!

Imho, Stay away from Remmington, and winchester at this time. Go with the B-guns Browing, Benelli, and Beretta. Remmingtons bought by friends of late have been nothing but trouble, Winchesters little better, but still have issues. Loke at gunbrokers and see how many of these brands are up for sale and not by dealers. It says volumes.

I bought a Franchi Affinity this year and am extremely impressed with the gun and I got it at a great price. My son has a Stoeger M2000 and I think the Franchi is by far the better gun.

Fanchi ansd stooger are made by Benelli. Franchie being the first step down in Quality and Stooger being the next. It's simple, you get what you pay for. I had a franchie great gun, but the forarm broke and they would not stand up for it. Bought a forarm for it and sold it. :)

I have to agree with this.

I also agree with the B strategy - if it's an auto loader I'd buy a Benelli.
