Ness City Area - Leased Land

I'm from Texas and this was my first year to get to hunt in Kansas, I thoroughly enjoyed it! Upland hunting in Texas will never be what it once was, deer hunting is the king here and bobwhite quail and quail hunters are paying the consequences. I hate how everything is fenced and leased here, it's ridiculous. It's all about $$, and that's not going to change. I was north of Dodge City last weekend and it seemed like everything was leased and fenced, very frustrating. I hope Kansas doesn't adopt Texas' screwed up system. Guys want $300 for a 1 day quail hunt when you'll be lucky to find 3 coveys! That's a 3-4 day trip to KS license included. I try to be discreet on here about areas I hunt. I had a great time this year and hope OOSers aren't considered a nuissance to KS residents. We are starved for good hunting down here and y'all have a great program! PF and QF are very important in the conservation of our beloved sport in every way imaginable, support them! I also don't understand the whole 14 hunters and 6 labs stomping through a 6 acre field (also known as Cock Blockers), that is ridiculous and about as unsportsman as it gets!

glad u enjoyed it here! i too hope kansas doesnt end up like texas. ive lost multiple honey holes due to leased land! mostly due to deer hunting!. i dont really agree with large groups and lots of dogs either, but its the way alot of guys do it especially opening weeks and holiday family get togethers. leases are becoming more and more popular in kansas every year. heck there are cornfield here in ne ks that are leased for waterfowl hunting! its rediculous. but we manage..for now.
