My GSP identifies as a Lab

Even though my dog was born a GSP,

He identifies himself as a Lab.

I do not know if he should get counseling or I should just accept him as a Lab.

He no longer points , we now wants to flush birds.

Am I a breed-a-phob if I want him to be a GSP?

He was pointing in the past and is now just taking birds out/bumping?

Forgive me for asking, but are you or have you been shooting birds that he's handled incorrectly?

Quickest way to turn a pointer into a flusher is to shoot birds that are intentionally bumped/flushed.

He quickly learns that he gets the bird if he just goes in and takes the bird out.*

If you're not... then more info.

My thoughts too. My first dog started doing this and I wouldn't shoot then I'd also make a disgusted noise. She learned pretty fast that it was a poor way to get a bird.
