morels

Anybody finding any shrooms? I've done a little walking on ground that looks pretty good, but haven't found any yet. Sunday's expedition at the farm was cut short when I discovered that somebody had broken into my shed and stolen some items.

But walking around the place, I pulled SD cards, and had some pics of bucks with nicely growing antlers.

Somebody always "knows of a guy" who is currently finding morels by the truckload, but I haven't heard any awesome firsthand accounts of anybody hitting the jackpot.

Probably headed out again in the morning before the weather changes to see if I can't get lucky and find a few for a fish-n-shroom fry...

I have't been out, but the neighbors are finding more than they ever have. A friend of mine found 500 yesterday evening. It must be all the rain we have had I suppose.

Yep, it's pretty much over here. The grass is getting so tall now it's hard to find them. I was finding the "beer cans" last week, and they are pretty much the last ones to pop up before the grass gets too thick.

It was a good year for them though I know that.

Morel mushrooms are just plain evil. In all the hours I've spent searching for them, I probably have gotten more ticks than mushrooms.

Adding insult to injury, I ran over one mowing the front yard today. That's just cruel... This little bugger never had a chance...

Found over 30 in about half an hour this morning, but lots rotten. Only kept 20 good ones. Still it was a great little hunt!

Only found about a dozen this year. Never seemed to find the honey hole. The little one and I did enjoy frying up the ones we did find.

My hunting buddy found a grocery bag full yesterday in Jeff Co under one of my tree stands. I cant get the pic to load which is impressive. Some were the size of beer cans.

A dozen at a time is about right. We ate our 20 after dinner as kind of a dessert, and were over-stuffed. My daughter, who "hates" mushrooms, thought they were delicious so that is a good sign for the future.

That's great. I have had my eagle-eyes open everywhere I go, but haven't seen any more since last week. I was starting to think it was all done. I'm headed to the farm later this week, and it would be a nice bonus to find a few more monsters.
