Hey there - new member here from Billings, MT. Originally from Medicine Lake in the northeast corner of the state. Love hunting birds . . . especially pheasants. I have two dogs, but neither are hunters. I just don't have the yard for an active dog or the time to get it out in the country on a regular basis. Some day. Anyway, looking forward to making new friends and learning more about phez hunting.

Welcome to UPH, I hope you get a hunting dog soon. Believe me when I say "you will never leave home without it".......Bob

Welcome to the site. I know what you mean about no time to get the dog out, but I've been without for 8 years and this year was probably my last straw.

Some of my favorite territory to hunt. Medicine Lake, Homestead, Culbertson.
Welcome aboard

Phezzboy, do you drive a white dodge truck? The reason I ask is we hunt all the same areas and I always seem to meet a white dodge with Canadian plates. If it is you I apolagize for all the Canadian jokes my buddies tell.

Steve

PS Have you ever hunted ducks on Medicine Lake?

Welcome to the UPH site. I plan to get out to eastern Montana this coming September and chase some Huns and Sharpies. Got any advice on where to go? I've got 2 Brittanys. I have a niece that lives in Billings.

Thanks for the welcome messages. There are certainly sharptail around up there and I saw more huns last year while hunting pheasants than I can ever remember, which left me thinking that the population was making a comeback. It's been years since I traveled up there to specifically hunt grouse and partridge as opposed to just running across them while pheasant hunting. Our place is on the Sheridan/Roosevelt Count line about 10 miles east of MT 16 between Froid and Homestead. Most of our land is in the Sandhills BMA. You'll certainly find pockets of grouse in the sandhills there. I'm hoping to make a run up there in September myself . . .

Hello Billings,

Jim from Bozeman, also new to the board, Medicine lake is a great spot. Tough winters though! Good luck searching for a dog, when you get ready, if you need help i might be able to point you in a direction. I know a couple of long time trainers , who seem to know the lay of the dog land!

Welcome to the site:thumbsup:
What type of dogs do you have?
