One rooster in the top pic landed in the creek. Dead as can be, the old Lab was after it leaping off the high bank at about 6 feet. Steep muddy sides he could not get out. Would not drop the bird, I walked calling him along for a couple hundred feet to a lower spot, he climbed out dropped the rooster by me and as happy as could be said "lets get more"
Talking about snakes. Worst times are after cool nights, then the warm sunshine in the afternoons, dang things come out to warm in the sun.

About what I expected
Birds...few and far between.
Dog.....Absolutely amazing......to see that he is getting the quartering idea and being able to sit him still even while on a "Hot scent"

What's the (un)official word on the Ninepipes area? I live in the Flathead and would love to get my hunting buddy and my dog out into that area if it's worth it to drive down there. Can't seem to find anything up here. My dog hasn't even put anything up yet. I feel I'm wasting her potential by working her stubby tail off and not finding anything. Would love to know about other areas like the Ninepipes and others that aren't too far off!!

Ahhh yes, I'm heading out as soon as I get the pop up on the pickup Thursday morning. It's about 14 hours for me. Friday will walk for pheasants then down to the breaks for deer and Elk.
