Mid Season Speculation Anyone?

The last group of hunters had the perfect day today. A little colder than you want it with a cold east breeze, snow on the ground and a little snow falling. They had their limit in time to watch the Packer - Cowboy game. I like it when the last booked hunt of the year gets their limit. A lot of hens for next year, if we can get them through the winter. All said and done it has been a good year once the harvest was done.

Week 8 group of 4 at Cattail Haven averaged 2.5 birds person day for 3 day hunt. 28 birds total. They rebooked their hunt for next year.

Nice to see good hunts can be had at tier 4 camps. Thier hunting skill, crops out and cooler weather were all factors.

Guys in that area are seeing a 50/50 hen/rooster ratio which is really encouraging this time of year.

I am at our Timberlake camp getting ready to hunt 3 days this morning.

Supposed to get involved in a management hunt so we will see what that is all about.

Well, due to an under cover game and fish officer getting invited to this management hunt in previous years and maybe me pointing out the legal group limit is 20......the deal fell thru:)

Our group had a great hunt regardless and our group of 10 got our limits. Some days worked hard. Other days they were thick.

I would say places that received heavy hunting pressure had a seriously high hen to rooster ratio indicating a poor hatch as was not the case 2 years prior. Some die-off from Oct blizzard was experienced as well. Last 2 hatch years were poor in this region.
