Meindel Boots

I thought I would pass on my experience with these boots on to you all. I bought my first Meindel boots. They are advertised to last forever and feel like broken in right out of the box. They are also sold as being so comfortable that they "walk themselves". The first time out was on an elk hunt with the original foot pads in the boots. I got my first heel blisters since getting out of the Army 35 years ago. So, after putting in some better foot pads in and a few more miles, they are getting broken in. I do like the design and they are getting more and more comfortable each time I wear them.

So, short story long, if you want to try a new boot, these seem to be well constructed and more comfortable then my Danners are with the new in sole.

Which Danner's did you have? I don't think you can beat the Danner Grouse, but everyone's feet are different.. Also which model of the Meindel's did you end up with? If Tuff Toe can't fix the cut in my Danner's I might be in the market for some new boots.

They are still good boots. I like the (ultra lite hunters?). I could be thinking about a different boot, but I think like so many others the quality fell a notch when some brilliant ceo decided to move the production from Germany?? to Vietnam??.

My Danners are recurves and the Meindls are the Hunters (uninsulated). The other issue that I’ve had with my Danners is, although they say they are water proof, they are actually water resistant…..at least after a little wear.

I bought some Meindls at the beginning of last season--Comfortfit Hunter Uninsulated. I expected them to need a little break-in and they did. I'm very happy with them after a season (20 days, give or take). They run a little wide for my foot, but that is consistent with the way they are described. They are probably a bit heavier than I would prefer, but I thought I would try a heavier-built boot to see if it would last longer.

I tried a pair of Meindels. Toe box too big and I was hunting rough chukar country. Got blisters. Solved the problem with Danner B width boots. Hard to pull on but no blisters ever.
