Mankato, Kansas

ok guys- I expect mine to do all those things- anyone in a field with me and mine has to do the same- you think I'd go out hunting with you if your dogs didn't have maners- and you need a shocker collar- ok- but if the dogs are out of sight- you don't see it in time to shock it- nope- I'll collar mine and head away

what- noone hunts with good dogs like the olden days
back in the 70's- those were the rules if you wanted to go hunting with the good ones-

hey- it's all good- maybe I do need to learn how you speak and post here-
been used to PDJ- not to hard to know who is real and has real bird dogs

GCB- you've sent me pm's asking about when we'll get together for a hunt

now you swear at me because there are some things in a bird field with 2 hunters and dogs that should be stated- but I guess that depends on how you hunt and your dogs-

all is good though- seems you have pals here- seems it's time I leave

goodbye folks

Shadow, dont know gcb but if you want to talk trash you probably should at least give each of us a chance to show you "old school dogs" . Little turtle has a 4 month old english lab that would proubly make you eat your words and LT is only 8. sides us ol country bumkins no have good dogs, we no even have guns ma justs runs them down.

wow, all this garbage comes from out of nowhere, for no apparent reason?
seems all of us were on the same page except for one and that is OK too.

friendly exchange of info is what it is all about and i am sure we all have our individual expectations of what makes for a finished bird dog, perfection is a wonderful thing (in bird dogs and in our own personal lives), but it is not easily achieved. i find my true friends can enjoy my company, even with my short comings......

in my opinion only a finished dog loads in truck is lead broke listens to the whistle collar conditioned holds point honors and retrieves end of story it doesn't need to run a mile and stay there until i get there i lilke to hunt slow and watch the dogs work not look at the GPS to find them

With this explanation I was able to track the conversation just fine. I think everybody can agree that it is best to set the rules before you go hunting. That way everybody has a good time and nobody spends the day cussing under his breath (or worse)...

I hope everybody can just write this off as a misunderstanding and get back to talking about hunting.

I am thinking of going out around Mankato the first week of the season. I was wondering if anybody had any success in this area?

Thanks Jeff

Mankato (Jewell County) is a pretty good area especially the western part of the county and up around Lowvell Reservoir has some nice areas.

I live in Smith County (county located just west of Jewell) and there are some great walk-in areas in the northern parts of the county. They are remote so there is little pressure after the first two weeks of the year.

Good luck!

Thanks for info. I will be hunting Nov 14-17. If anyone is interested in joining up. It will be me and a friend and 3 shorthairs. Send me a note.

Not sure how many people are going to be in our group this year, but we'll be out there the same time frame as ya'll
