Major WIA Rule Change

Go by the walk in atlas regs!!!!! And legal shooting times!!!! I just got off the phone and I am Laughing at the explanation!!!! They tried to explain to me that one is for the times you can't be there and one is for the times you can be there!!! I did not get it through their head, that you only need one set of times to accomplish this and oh by the way your missing hours between the two. I had to give up and finally just say , if I go by the walk in regs and legal shooting times I will be o.k. and she said yes!! We could of argued for an hour!!!!LOL

Evidently you can walk onto the property at an hour before sunrise and walk around for 30 minutes, then start shooting. At the end of the day you have to stop shooting at sunset, then you can walk around the property for one hour before you have to walk off.

Does the start date really matter?? Looks to me like you can shoot Eurasians all day, every day, until the DOW tells us to stop!

Straight from the 2010 Small Game Brochure:

EURASIAN COLLARED
SEASON: Year-round
AREAS: Statewide
DAILY BAG LIMIT: Unlimited
POSSESSION LIMIT: Unlimited
NOTE: See â??Species Identificationâ? on page 4
for transit requirements.
NEW: If taken Sept. 1-Nov. 9, fully feathered
Eurasians will not be counted toward mourning
and white-wing bag and possession limits. If
Eurasians taken at this time are not fully feathered,
they count toward all dove bag and possession
limits. Eurasians must be fully feathered if
taken at times other than Sept. 1-Nov. 9.

The brochure did not come out until Aug I think. Could of been a little earlier. Generally speaking of course, It should start Sept 1 for year round, but I bet it is 50-50 who saw it like that. The other half are blasting already! Don't have a problem with it other than the DOW needs to do a better job, so everyone is on the same page!!!

Eneranch, Take a look at the small game brochure, page 2 under WIA Program. See the difference in the start and stop times from the 2 brochures?

I see the difference. Evidently they changed the rules before writing the Walk-In Atlas. Too bad they couldn't point out IN BOLD LETTERS the difference.

Makes you stop & think; Is someone asleep at the wheel ???:confused:

I talked to Dow on 60th & Broadway and they told me the mistake is in the small games mag,
and hunting hours are the same as it always was. I talked to 2 differnt people and got the same answer.Better to hear it from the guy's who would be issuing tickets then rumors on the net, i also kept contact info on both people just in case a little c.y.a goes a long way.
