Loosing a true friend

This is the man who got me involved in bird dogs many years ago. He is Loren Lein the founder of the Blue River kennel name. At one time there was German short haired pointers of the finest stock, great Labradores, and our Springers. This man I have known all my life and he is my brother, second father, and mentor. Just a great man who has done so many things for the state of MN. Instrumental in getting public land for all to hunt and a commissioner in southern MN for years doing what he could for the environment. A hunter and sportsmen supporter through and through. His heart is weakend now, and I believe it is from giving so much of it away. He and his family along with some close friends, surprised me with the news they will be putting up a new kennel facility for me. He is changing my life as he says good bye to his own. I will miss him, never forget him, and always strive to do right by him. I know he will watch over me and be with me and the Blue River team where ever we go. This one is hard for me and will take some time to move on, but he would want me to. I am blessed and honored to keep his kennel name for the future, along with the now 6th generation of great ESS's he started with. His grandson Nick, will be starting and continuing the journey with his Labradores Here is a few pics of a couple dogs I found on a visit this weekend. He won this event 3 years in a row with his short hairs and his ESS in both the pointing division and flushers. No one has done so since.
I will never forget you my friend.

A nice tribute to both of you.

Ken I am truly sorry for your loss.

BritChaser said it best, Loren is no doubt smiling down with pride at the man you have become.

I understand your feelings. My heart goes out to you.

Kind of a welter of shock, sense of emptiness, smiles at memories, wonder at how this could happen, and that thousand-yard stare in your mind as you find you can't envision a future without him in your life.

What a gift in life that he has been for you.

Hang in.

FCSpringer,

Sorry to hear of your loss. Our prayers to you and the family. Treasure the memories as they last forever.

Really sorry to hear about your impending loss. I can tell by how you speak of him that he has meant a great deal to you. Those mentor friendships are something very special. I also love the old newspaper clippings that show the old-timers those are priceless. Makes me think of my long deceased father and how much he loved to train dogs. Take care

Well stated . . . you had & still have a treasure. The legacy lives on in you. And when the time comes, more than missing him be thankful for having known him. Prayers sent.

Jim
