I am hunting with my 1 year old Vizsla as well (his first season). Looking to get him on some birds so he can gain experience. Really just trying to complete him for next season so more interested in him getting on birds this year than me getting any. Ops tempo on base has limited my opportunities to get out this season but have managed to hunt/walk immediate area PLOTS surrounding Minot AFB prior to the snows with no luck. Population is noticeably down. I've heard things are better further west and around Garrison Dam and Audubon area but have not had the time to go check it out yet. Most folks I talk to having luck are on private property vs. PLOT/WMA. Walked the Henderson WMA east of Bismarck with no sightings.
Bottom line, can anyone point me to better PLOTS/WMAs with better populations? Anyone close to Minot AFB with a seasoned dog willing to tolerate a couple of novices for a 1/2 day? Would love to get Dakota behind another dog who knows what they are doing.
