Looking for a horseback hunting experience to remember

So i'm looking to put together a trip of a lifetime for my 85yr old grandfather. He's always dreamed about working his dogs out west and while he still can I want to make it happen.

Looking for an all inclusive lodge with great accomodations that puts together hunting packages (3-5 days). Horseback would be best as although he's in amazing shape for his age, I dont know if he's up for walking fields all day. Also it would make the trip if he could bring his own dogs to run. He's still active in the field trial circuit. His dogs are bigger running dogs so something with thinner cover and bigger spaces is probably best

Anyone have any suggestions or been on something similar? Not looking for a motel 8 stay, but rather a lodge and the whole experience.

I don't want to say price isn't an issue, but I'm willing to spend to make it right.

Two places I found are horsefeather lodge - bob tinker kennels in SD and Ruggs ranch in Oregon. Both seem to have fantastic reviews

There was also an outfit in Nebraska that offered HB hunts for prairie grouse some time ago. Dunno if they are still around or not.

You might also consider a plantation quail hunt down south, Fl/Al.

I see ads for that type of hunt placed by quail plantations down south.

Thanks guys. I got in touch with bob tinker of horse feathers lodges and that sounds like it may be the ticket.

But I will reach out to the flying b ranch tomorrow as well.

horse back hunt

I remember a hunting show on the outdoor channel where they were hunting grouse, around the Pierre area of SD horseback. I can't remember the name of the ranch though, or the name of the show. This was aired 2 septs. ago.

I think this is the one you are thinking of scottlindenoutdoors.com/2010/10/01/yeeeeha-road-trip-goes-old-school-and-old-west/#more-2407
