Heading out to the Happy Hunting Grounds in NW for tomorrow's dove opener. Unfortunately, the temps have fallen and rain is predicted.

I am ready to knock the dust off myself. I won't be able to get out for the opener tomorrow, but i will definitely be hitting the fields sunday and monday west of lawrence. Enjoy the scenery out there in the nw section. It is hard to beat

We need a boat to get anywhere close to the dove grounds around here. I didn't know there was a monsoon season in the late summer.

I took my son out with one of his buddies and his dad on a Youth/Mentor field managed by the folks at KDWPT and it was epic. I don't recall ever seeing so many doves in one place. This on a day where I drove a fair amount of county roads and saw very few doves. It goes to show you how good management produces results. It was a day both boys will remember forever and a great way to start the fall.

That's great! I missed yesterday evening because I was putting up a ground blind for youth deer, which opens on Saturday. Wish that season opened up later in the year.

Saturday morning might see a little dove hunting. Saturday evening will be deer hunting. If he gets one it will be all-in dove hunting on Sunday and Monday.

There won't be as many comin your ways boyz. We are stacking em up like cordwood. Running out of shells actually. Found a honey hole between wheat, water and woods. Best shoot in years. Didn't seem like that many around but maybe being in the right spot makes a world of difference. Certainly good particle for pheasant season. Best of luck!!

Iowa has only recently had a dove season, I guess I just don't see the draw.

Do you eat them ? Just stand there and shoot ?
