This is the time of year when I have worked on habitat from March till now. I say "Man, if it ain't good enough now then it's just gonna have to be".

The habitat work is producing and paying dividends and while there is something to learn every year I say it's quitin time. Few things to tidy up in the fall but till next year Av-Ve-Der-Zain and Si-O-Nara.

Nature....You got the Con.

Well, it IS pretty hot out...

I wish I was in the same boat as you, but I have a lot of chainsawing still to go and I am supposed to do a late summer/early fall burn. I'll be starting early morning and quitting early too. :cool:

Enjoy the rest of your summer, I'm sure you've earned the break!
 
Still working on things here. Getting ready for summer burns and working on marshes. Buried the tractor this morning so bad I had to get an excavator in to get it out. It is pudding under the cattails. They're 11 feet tall, so flooding them wouldn't do much. May not get millet in unless I can burn off the duff I've made. Help broke the disk a week ago. Parts came in Friday late and got them on. New tire and foam fill on Wednesday and we're back in vogue! We're behind, as usual! Need rain!
 
Weeds in the bush and cedar trees planted over the past two years is kicking me butt. wish there was a spray that would kill the weeds and not the trees. Canadian thistle and rag weed, plus a good helping of milk weed and wild rose...... sdviking

viking, I have had good luck with a quart of roundup over the top on cedars and juniper trees. Spray at 45 degree angle and not straight down at top.

On deciduous trees I have had good luck with Stinger (Transline) for broadleaves and Poast (Sethoxydim) for grass weeds.

Read the labels for each and you can learn a ton. Let me know more specifics and I can recommend some concoctions.
