Tough hunting in much of eatern SD due to the snow depth and the freezing rain on top of the snow. The further west you get the better. Snow has knocked down the CRP so birds don't hold well in it and cattail sloughs are fairly full of snow. If you do find birds they are bunched around farm yards, trees and food plots. If you get into the birds it can be some fast and furious shooting. Not really the kind of pheasant hunting I prefer. Right now it doesn't make for good dog work, especially with pointing dogs. But it you can find some CRP that is thick enough and that the snow hasn't pushed down too bad the birds will hold well under the snow. Then the pointers are a blast. Good luck.
