Today on Highway 400/50 coming back from Garden City, when I need a comfort break at the rest area west of Ingalls and what do I see but this guy.

He was parked there when I got there and I took care of business then went and confronted him asking, "What the heck are you doing? Here we are in a terrible drought and you are preventing ice from forming!" He was from the Dodge City headquarters and I have done a fair amount of work there over the years so he knew I was teasing. Anyway, new truck and new equipment and he had to take the truck to Garden City for some service and was testing the anti-ice equipment along the way and watering trees at the rest stop. He said he was sure getting some strange looks.

Good thing you explained the part that the truck was watering the trees, I thought that might have been you. Anyhow, I hope you did a little rain dance at the rest area.

I could have stopped outside the men's room and watered a tree. :) After all every little bit helps, other than it likely would have evaporated before it hit the ground.

When in doubt, drink beer! Sounds like you-all need to have a bunch of keg parties out there and do some selective watering!

A 2006 study found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year. Another study found that Americans drink an average of 22 gallons of beer a year. That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles per gallon. Keep up the good work!

being a KDOT worker, he may have been asleep in the truck since the last snow and did not realize it was summer.:)
