Kansas/Nebraska hunting

I just moved to Colorado from Alaska. AFter 30 years of dust collecting on my shotguns, I decided to move to where I could hunt pheasants. Now the problem is, where is a good region to hunt and how do I find areas to hunt?
I want to go over to the NW corner of KS and the SW corner of NE to hunt. I have never been there so have no idea where to begin. I want to come in the next week or so. I am alone and if anyone in that area wants to get out and hunt with me...Great!
I tried Eastern CO earlier this season several times, killed a few but overall it was like hunting pheasants in Alaska unless someone would let you shoot them in their front yard.
Oh, I am a big game outfitter in Alaska hunting Grizzly bear and Dall Sheep. I get around pretty good so we can run those pheasants all day.
Thanks

ive never hunted nebraska, but i have hunted nw ks, which is usually really good, i imagine sw nebraska would be similar, kansas probably has more public land to hunt tho.

Go to KDWP Website

Kansas has over one million acres of walk-in hunting. Go to the KDWP website for the maps.

I hunted SW NE this year and it was poor.

SW Neb. truly has hardly any public areas to hunt and the ones they do have are pretty poor. I have access to private there and it has been an up and down season for me. Birds have been pushed on to the adjacent areas where no hunting is allowed and holed up for the most part. Kansas has much more public land though I have not hunted there for awhile. Seen lots of pictures from there on here this year which looks tempting. Good luck!

If you guide Dall sheep you are too fast for me!!!! Where in Colorado have you layed your claim??? I am up north of Denver and hunt mostly S.W. Kansas, but use to hunt N.W. Kansas a lot. Have not tried E. Colo. yet, have 6000 acres private ground, but it is on the edge of good pheasant Habitat, although during Antelope season saw bunches of roosters I just like going and visiting the boys out in Kansas I guess!!! Love AK, been up there twice, once up in Bristol Bay commercial fishing with my buddy on his beach net site and the other time on my honeymoon!!!!

Well this is my first post on here...so first off just wanted to say hi to all!
I live in oberlin ks which is 30 miles south of nebraska border and 90 miles east of colorado border...the pheasant hunting this year is awesome out here. Best it has been in many many years! Let me know if you decide to head this way...have plenty of land to hunt!

hey bucked. I hunted the oberlin area a buch when i was a kid in the late 70's early eighties. Also hunted over around phillipsburg and the fine little town of speed. We used to stay with an old farmer named carl west of phillipsburg. I would love to come out and hunt with you sometime if you are ever interested. anyway thanks for bringing back some great memories of some awesome hunts when i was a younger man. ( and quite a bit slimmer)

Art, I'm a licensed big game guide in Alaska also, although I moved outside 10 yrs ago. Interesting we should join this forum within days of each other. My camp was off the Tazlina Glacier, Hallet River. Guess I need to try the PM button.

Hunting in Northwest Kansas

Will be in the northwest corner of Ks. Thurs Jan 28th any ideas for a first timer in the area? Thanks Love this site!

I'm planning on visiting NW Kansas for the first time from 1/25 thru 1/31(last week of season). I have hunted Montana, ND, SD extensively and some in Nebraska. I will be alone with no dog - any advise on this area would really be appreciated. Thanks.
