Ithaca Mod 37 16 ga. Mod choke pattern?

I have an Ithaca model 37 16 ga with a fixed mod choke. I'm going to pattern it, but was wondering if anyone else had and what their experience was. When I bought it I was told to expect more of a IC pattern with that choke. Hoping that isn't the case. I want to use it on pheasants next year.

IC or Mod, very little difference. And choke constriction can vary by gun. What you have is perfect for pheasants. Buy some good #5 or #6 shot and you will be good to go.
 
Shoot a pattern and find out. It wont be too tight i can guarantee. But you never know, might throw a perfect pattern or you may be tossing up a pattern so bad you have a better chance at a miss or cripple than a kill. You just dont know
 
I've had a lot of experience with the 37s. Wonderful guns up until sometime in the 70's I think. That does not mean that if your gun was made after that that it is junk. But they did suffer some quality issues. My first was the exact gun you mentioned. A 50's model. You'll be fine, just don't take long shots and practice with it. They are light, whippy but fast. I gave my grandson a cherry 50's in full choke. He owns guns worth 3 times the amount but always shows up with it.
 
The first gun I ever owned was a 1971 model 37.My dad bought it for me, and I pawned it when I was 17, and I still regret that.Mine was a full choke gun, 20 ga.We used to duck hunt a lot with it, and pheasant.
