Irish Setter Pup Free

The first night with the new pup went as expected. It was madness! But he seems to get along well with the dogs and has lots to learn. Some farm exploration was sensory overload for him. He's sweet as can be and he'll be great. He and my young English setter seem to be long lost friends. They will stay in shape with their constant wrestle mania. He hasn't discovered the pheasant pen yet but hunting is a bonus for me. Now the question...the name. His name is Hunter but he doesn't seem to particularly respond to it any more than anything else. The possibilities are...red, copper, and Rusty, and of course Hunter. I'm a fan of single syllable names but I rarely win...we'll see what my wife and boys settle on.

Glad he has a great home. I am sure he will be an awesome dog. If you want a one syllable name try Buck.

You got the dog - good deal!! I like "Red," not that it's any of my beeswax. ;) Happy for the dog and his new family.

Dogs wrestling is great entertainment. Why isn't it on TV? Much better than most shows.

Blaze a good...we settled on Red...first time I've won anything in a while.

I'll definitely let you know how he does. So far he hasn't pointed the pheasants in the pen but he's pointed at the ducks!

Keep us posted on the dog's progress in your family and afield.

He's doing good. He has a great personality and loves playing with the kids. He's starting to pick up on the routine around here. He isn't afraid of loud noises so if I can find some instinct in there that's one obstacle I won't have to overcome. He's figured out where all of the local burr patches are so he's had more than one trim already. He's a really sweet dog.

nice success story....even if he isn't a terrific hunter, he is a happy dog!
either way you can be proud.

I'm thinking he's going to show out as a true hunter. He had the look in his face. Best of luck this fall and be patient with him, as should we all with our dogs.

I took him out today around my place. He listened exceptionally well and didn't range too far. I realize he's a setter but I'm not a big running dog guy. Just a personal preference. In any case I was very happy with him. I've been hearing some quail calling but didn't happen on them today. Hopefully the weather is improving and I can really start working with him and my other setter. He's turning out I be a really great dog. Great personality.

Red's a lucky dog to end up with you.

What a great-looking dog. If you arrange for a new owner, hopefully the new master will keep us informed about the dog's progress and send more photo's.

Would enjoy hearing how he's doing...good luck!
