inside or outside

I had an issue with Riley my oldest. We were hunting in rain/sleet. I had to carry him to the truck too, as a result of hypothermia. Scary stuff. But in the conditions we were in, with the type of coat a vizsla has, well... When you see a dog hunching his back trying to keep his belly warm, and he quits shivering, you get him to a truck fast.

Any other time, as long as the dogs are moving, they are fine.

inside dog

I'll disagree that a inside dog is not a good hunter. I have had both and have come to this conclusion. What is in the breed-in genes determines a dogs ability to hunt. To me it is as simple as that. Good breeding produces good hunting dogs......Bob

There is a lot to be said about good genes and great genes.I have sold dogs for years and some are inside some out and both turn out great with the right breeding.GWP can live out side or inside but to fully hit their potential need human contact daily.thats the difference between a good dog and a great one.

In or out.

The Breton-s I have need the additional interaction being inside gets them.
I feel I have a better rapport with the dogs & can "read" them better.
Bretons are not a "put'em outside & forget'em breed".

My dogs are however outside for about 4 days then get a two day rotation
inside (3 dogs). I do require them to be outside at least as much as they are in
so as to be acclimated to the outdoor weather extremes.
