Indoor Hunting Dogs

My dogs sleep in the house, wife wouldn’t have it any other way. I often lay out my hunting clothes the night before and my older setter sleeps on top off them. My younger setter used to be real chill, lay down the whole drive until we got to where we were hunting, now she has started this half whine half bark, sounds like a hyena. Starts up as soon as we slow down or hit gravel road, drives me crazy, gonna have to put a bark collar on her

They just love to hunt, some dogs get really really excited, mine get excited but they don't bark, one of my dogs does bark when she gets out of the car. Oh well, pheasants know you are there usually. They hear a car drive up, a door closed, things that they're not usually hearing.

My buddy has a very affectionate little setter. She's not an inside dog but run's loose ( invisible fence) most of the time. He swears she knows before he ever touches a hunting item. Start's jumping on the sliding glass door with this incredibly anxious look. Maybe it is some sort of energy we give off when we start thinking about it. Maybe it's some small queue that he does and doesn't even know. I know one thing; she turns into a little ball of fire when I pull in!!

Our dogs would get together and talk about little things we hunters do when they decide to let us go hunting. ;)

Dogs in the house are more in tune with us than we realize. How could they not be? Their senses are fine tuned, not corroded with tv, phones, music, gossip and bills to be paid. They know the sights sounds and smell of your vehicle apart from others, your footfalls, your idiosyncrasies. They are the only creatures that live with their God.

My dog has been giving me the look of disgust the last few days, because I missed the only rooster we saw the whole day!!
