Lets get on with the summer, get those chicks hatched and grown and onto some nice crisp fall days. Anyone else ready for some early chickens and opening day of upland season other than me?

I just want to see some high tails on point!

I just hope, hope, hope, we have a good nesting season for quail and the ones that have hatched made it through the monsoons we have been having.

I am ready.

Been seeing several pairs of Quail on my place, hope they have a bunch of chicks that survive.

My hired man and I was disrupted during our lunch time naps at headquarters at the Ponderosa, by two rooster quail, one on each side of the house calling. Dang they were noisy.

I took the dogs for a run at the farm Saturday. It was raining much of the time, but when it stopped raining I heard 9 different Bobs whistling on my 1/4 section. I am really pumped.

Then the big surprise,........ saw a Prairie Chicken on my place

I sure hope we get the good hatch that we are due....

Opened a gate for the help today and had at least 6 male bobs cause me pause due to their calling. Sure could use a good frost to make me more cheerie! I did get a hunting buddies setter female hooked up with a male yesterday! Should be some nice pups gracing the NWSG later this fall. Have a female in my kennel that is plagued with the hotsies and scheduled with a meeting with the same male. August could be interesting.

Duckn, you'll have to stop by and discuss this dang blockade called summer!

I hear you Troy. Use to look forward to doing some fishing but with the price of everything I've darn near quit fishing.

Glad to hear everyone is hearing some quail calling. Maybe we had a good carry over from last year. I've been hearing them as well at my place. I just wish I would hear a rooster cackle like we used too. Had that one in my back yard last August but I have my suspicions that he was an escapee from someone. Nonetheless he was used for a short training session!

Duckn, got the second cover on the little white female this morning. A rooster was crowing to the southeast during the dance. It's so humid it is foggy this morning. YUCK!

This is a good place to let off a little steam. I suppose we would not appreciate the fall so much if we did not have to live through summer and the long no hunting period. I'm planning a trout fishing trip to pass some of the time.

Just came back from northern Illinois and what did I see up there. I was looking at a 10 acre parcel I was interested in and a big old rooster was standing next to a pine tree on the property. Nice habitat but the price was pretty steep. I think the owner put the rooster out just to jack up the price another 100,000.
