Hunting Turkeys with Dogs?

That's too cool Quail Hound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Good work. Colorado is (so I hear) planning on opening some late fall tags for the North Eastern part of the state that would coincide with pheasant season so with any luck I'll be baggin' some 747s on the wing next season.

My dad went on an invited turkey hunt a few years ago in the fall near Topeka and they specifically pushed turkey flocks out of creek bottoms up into CRP and then put down bird dogs to point and flush the birds and then they wing shot them...just like any upland bird hunt. I couldn't believe it! Being a life-long turkey hunter, I'd never heard of anything like it but he said it was a ball!

I normally have at least 10 solid turkey points and flushes a year. If you don't know its a turkey the dogs pointing it can scare the crap out of you! Most of the time it happens after the dogs break a group up and they get into tall crp or brush.

My little 35lb english pointers don't skip a beat bringing back a wounded bird.
