Hunting accident in Harvey County

Safety never comes off unless birds are in the air and it is going up to the shoulder. Can't believe anyone would do otherwise.
I am guessing that anyone who doesn't think like us, won't feel like they can comment without being shamed. I doubt that I will know how many or why they feel like there is an advantage to be unsafe!

That taking the safety off as the gun is shouldered is so ingrained in me, that the occasional times I'll leave the safety off as I'm shooting backyards clays (standing in position, at the ready to make the shot), that it messes up my mount. I can't even do a premount to shoot clays (or actual skeet/trap/sporting clays), have to start with low gun and safety on or I never catch up to the clay.

Exactly the way it should be. Like others have said, I’d never hunt with someone who kept their safety off. As it turns out I missed 2 birds last week in sd because the safety didn’t come off when mounting. I’m sure it was because of cold hands and heavy gloves but I’d rather miss a bird than risk shooting myself or worse yet my dog.
