how to use OnX to find places to hunt in Montana

hey I am new to bird hunting and never hunted wild birds. I am planning my first hunt to northeast Montana this year. I read that I need to look for BlueStem grass slopes or something like that. I odn't want anyones secrete spot, but any hints at what to look for on a OnXmap to plan would be greatly appreciated. IS there different places in the monring hunt I should look for vrs an afternoon /evening hunt?

I am focuing right now with parcels that look like there is water stream or drainage ditch. Would that be the main thing the land should have, or close to crop fields? Anyway, thank you for reading, and any hints would be more than appreciated.

I think that Huns and Sharpies will be in season. I plan to be there the last week and half of October. I really don't care about which, but I want to give my dog the most pointing possibilities I can.

I think you should say if you are looking for pheasants, huns, or sharpies?

thank you, good suggestions. The time I am there Sharpies and huns will be season and right now I have never seen either in real life so I don't have a preference. I just want to give my dog the most pointing opportunities I can give her, and have fun with the dogs.

BTW, I have no idea why it bolded... So sorry there is no meaning or intention behind it. I cannot figure how to turn it off. Take Care

Sharptails are all over MT. When deer hunting last year we saw piles of them in Eastern areas. Early mornings they gathered at the water troughs, then split up into the drainages and coulees. When glassing from knobs we would see them sailing across the landscape below us. Pretty neat, and I was surprised by their numbers.
