How is the hunting around Platte?

Howdy all,
My 13yr old son and I are heading up towards Platte on 15 November and I was just checking to see how the hunting has been around that area.

This will be our first time ever hunting in South Dakota, so please be gentle

We are both pretty pumped and can't wait until then. I hope the weather cooperates. What kind of weather do you guys usually get/expect that time of the year around that area? I figure we will take clothes for whatever. That is pretty much what I do anyway. I pack for everything from short sleeves to frigid, zero wind chill, snow blowing....

I don't get that far East and haven't heard.As far as your clothing plan,stick to it.

Hey! Reports I'm hearing coming out of SD are mixed. Some areas are good and some not so good. Will you be hunting public land or do you have private lined up? We will be hunting north east of Platte November 12-14. Hoping to find a few roosters ! I think you will find the SD experience a good one. Typical weather should be in the 40's...but who knows with SD. Good to come prepared for anything. Great to hear you are bringing your son! I have fond memories of hunting with my son when he was that age. Get out there and make some memories!

Thank you very much, I try. My son actually is diagnosed bipolar disorder and severe ADHD. I had to admit him to an in-resident treatment center when he was 10. He is doing okay now, going through puberty and hormones.

Getting out hunting with him, the dogs, the outdoors is great because there is no stress or worries.

He has always been very safe and he listen's to the old man and watches the dogs, other hunters, etc.

I just want it to be a good experience for both of us.
