How far between gunners?

Suppose you have a quarter section of solid grass field. No treelines, or wind breaks or shelterbelts, or other significant vegetiation or cover transitions. Just one big square field of knee-to-waist-high prairie grass. Section roads along the south and west boundaries. No vehicle access along the north and east boundary. Cut corn on north and east sides. Cut corn across the section roads to the south and west. North wind 10-20mph.

4-6 people walking through the field, and 2 older gentlemen that designated themselves as all-time blockers due to their age and (im)mobility. 3 dogs working in front of the 4-6 walkers. all walkers have 12 gauge field loads of 1 1/4 #4 or #5 lead shot.

1) how would you work the field so that the blockers may have decent opportunities to get in on the action? (formation, directions, etc. )

2) how far apart would you want the walkers to be?

3) how far apart would you want the blockers to be?

Discuss.

Is your intention to work it in 1 pass? That is a big chunk for 1 pass.

I would work it cross wind starting on the north east corner and let the dogs dictate how many passes. Blockers are more or less useless except for the return ride. I would keep them hidden as best as possible, the birds will still know they are there but they might get a shot.

The roads on two sides are you most effect blockers, work it slow, real slow. When you think you are going slow enough cut your speed in half. and DO NOT shout HEN, or ROOSTER every shooter should identify their own shots.
