It’s easy, I’m a pheasant hunter until I get four, then I’m a quail hunter. It works. Early season both birds in the CRP. Late season pheasants in CRP and quail in fence rows, thickets and creek banks. Speaking from Kansas.
I shot and patterned Heavy Hammer Dove.....they are 3" and #7s, Skeet choke and Improved choke.
I shoot them for grouse/Woodcock in Northern Wisconsin.....1st 3 roosters I shot this year were taken by that shell. Each rooster was within 25yds.
They don't "destroy" grouse and woodcock and will take a rooster, so my thoughts would be it would be a good shell for quail with the chance of pheasant......
When I hunted places with quail and pheasant, I just started using 6 shot for everything. I don’t want to deal with two different loads for different birds.
