I got 2 hen birds. It was very windy. the dog had a hard time i think picking up scent. I missed 2 birds straight above my head. I need to settle down more. I'm not getting a good cheek weld and shooting too fast. how did everyone else do?

what gun/choke and shot are you running? what kind of terrain are you hunting?

im running a benelli 12ga. skeet choke #6 shot. im hunting mostly thicker(ish) wooded areas.

We did real well, we had our limit by 8:30 hunting behind a 5 month old pup, so we were pretty happy. We hunted a much less crowed area up by Pheasant Camp and saw only a few other hunters.

I shoot a Berreta AL2, Mod Choke, high brass 6's !

We hunt all different type of terrain and even include some hunts for WILD birds, I've been at this for many, many years!

Today we tried a new spot that might have some wild birds. Chipper has some work to do when it comes to getting these birds in the air!

When are you heading back out? What part of the state do you hunt?

I work mon-fri so saturday is about the only day i can get out. so next saturday. i hunted french creek SE PA last week but im going to try lancaster next week i think. i have a 2.5yr old english setter. she does pretty well.

i may try to take off at least one friday next month to go out. how about you, where are you from?

Winchester Model 1300 Upland Special

I hunt all over the state and in NJ as well and try to stay in agricultural areas that have a good cover.

We save our vacation time for this time of the year, so I have all the Fridays, some Mondays and the week of Thanksgiving, plus!

We have a camp and property in Bradford County that started out as a Deer/grouse camp, but because of changing land use and the PGC stocking it now serves as our Pheasant Camp. We have spots in all parts of the State but a majority of our hunting is in the North East.

It was wet but a good day nonetheless. our group limited out by 7:30. Friday head to central PA and then get ready the following week for NJ opener. Looking for a good year hopefully with some grouse mixed in.

Windy opener

Only got the Britts out around 4 PM, move a few birds, mostly on the edges of standing corn. Hunted this morning, better conditions and had 2 roosters in the bag by 9. Good day in the field, I am breaking in a new pup 8 month old, trying to get her ready for SD in a few weeks. Did not hunt grouse yet too many leaves on trees down my way.

Two roosters opening day using my 20 ga. Browning White Lightening. I hunt what is available- fields, food plots, woods, edges and wetlands areas. I shoot 8 shot Remington Game Loads on shot one (sometimes 2) and Winchester Super X 6 shot on my 2nd.

About the same here but two hens the first day and two cockbirds last night. I'm shooting a Franchi with 7.5 spreader loads in first and 6 shot Prairie Storm in my 2nd barrel..
