Back in Pa, took the britts out to the local game lands today, snow still on the ground and crusty. Got in the field about 3 PM 15 minutes into the hunt both dogs lock-up in a heavy
fence row, I saw the rooster moving about 10 yards in front of the dogs, they relocated and lock-up as I tried to get ahead of them the rooster flushed and I dropped him on the other side of the fence line, Ruby my older female made a nice retrieved. The dogs now knew the game was on and this was not training. Found 4 more birds 2 hens and 2 rooster which I did not shoot. Great first day of the second season. I will continue to hunt the second season but don't feel real good about shooting these birds and taking all the fun away from the dogs.
