How cold is too cold in a kennel?

On another note, I'm thinking about getting a yellow puppy from that guy where golden hour got his dog. They are very expensive.

My set up. I bought my truck new in 2020 and put the topper on then. Had a topper on the previous truck. I like individual boxes vs a dog box. Easy to load and easy to move to a hotel room or my daughter's house. Only 1 bird so far this morning flushed and retrieved by the 12 year old. Maybe a 3rd year bird.

Pups from quality breeding run $2000-2500
In today’s world
I noticed golden hour wasn't hunting both of his dogs together and I think that's what I may start doing because jonesy is stealing all of the retrieves from my 12-year-old yellow.

You need to get out more. Skunks, porcupines, snakes, fences, old barbwire, tree branches, corn stalks, sharp rocks, sharp ice and gopher holes are all common where I go

I've never run into a skunk, porky, snake, or trap in about 25 years of pheasant hunting.

Barb wire is everywhere though. That I have run into.

When my nearly 14 year lab first started around 6 months, I went with 2 other hunters who each had an older dog. It did not help her development or training one bit. All she wanted to do was chase those other dogs and play.

I then started hunting her alone and she figured it out pretty quick. Once the dog learns what they're after, I think hunting with another dog is ok. But when they are younger, it inhibits them as a distraction.

The problem I'm having now is, my yellow lab that's 12 still likes to retrieve, but doesn't flush any birds. If I get a bird down, and my yellow lot lab pics him up, my young black lab just steals the bird from her right away, and I don't really like that.

I agree, that's unacceptable. Because then you might have a tug of war on your hands and a bird gets ripped to shreds.

One of the dogs I referenced in another post that ruined a hunt did that to my lab her second season. It was a much bigger, male pointer. My lab is a smaller female and very submissive. She was mid-retrieve and that male plowed into her like a truck and took the bird. And then he proceeded to chew it into a pulp.

That was the last straw for me. That dog wasn't invited again. The owner took it personally too. He asked to come with again and I told him he could come but his dog wasn't welcome. He blew a fuse. That was the end of that.

Totally understandable, my dogs don't do a tug of war with a bird, but I could just tell that my 12-year-old yellow is very upset by having Jones steal her retrieve. Maybe I should just take my 12-year-old separate separately, but she's basically retired, and doesn't flush birds anymore, unless she's right on top of one. She can't get into the heavy cover, and just walks behind me usually, sometimes she will get out front 10 or 15 yards.

I'm going to go tomorrow, and I'm going to hunt them separately. First place I'm going to take River my 12-year-old yellow, and I can probably get a bird in that place if I don't screw it up. Then I will drive a little ways and let Jones hunt and let River rest in the truck. That's probably the best call from now on, however I still will take them both out together at times, because it's a lot easier to do it that way.

Ah man I’m a big wuss. Little while before that my wife called and I was telling her about the cut. I sent her a picture to try to gross her out. Backfired on me started thinking about it and I got all shocky.
Last year when I cut the tip of my finger off was at the er. Got so bad they made me get off the stool sit on the ground and put my head between my knees. Hate that!
Glad it was nothing serious but man that is soft lol. 🤣
