Honeybells

Cal, so in other words. :)
You would not be impressed with me sending you some Florida Oranges.
Trust Me, We, the Bride and I WILL NOT be sending fruit to our CA Kids either.
Even though there is citrus available in N MT, here to in N MN
Still, A nice gift, I hope.

A very nice gift indeed. I think what Cal was saying was that it might not cross our minds that others don't have access to farm fresh fruit like we enjoy year around almost, heck the little farm a mile away from me was still picking fresh strawberries a week and a half ago. If and when I go out of state I'm bringing lots of almonds and pistachios with me to represent my county.

I hope mnmthunting knows I was only teasing. It is true however that it's often startling how things that are familiar to us are rare and exotic in other parts of our own country. I still get weird looks when I ask for lettuce, pickles and a tomato on my hamburger back there instead of just eating it like everyone else, bun and meat and maybe mustard. It's what makes a big part of the long trip fun.
Happy Holidays to everyone, especially you Wayne.

Thanks Cal and wishing you and everyone the best for the Holidays and a great 2014.

On a side note. :D I get a chuckle out of CA people thinking it a big deal to see a bald eagle. :)

Bald Eagles were very uncommon in Calif. before the DDT ban but they've become a common sight out in the rice land during the winter where they eat crippled or sick waterfowl. In the summer almost every lake in the Sierra Nevadas has Ospreys and a Bald Eagle stealing the fish they catch. I counted over 40 juvenile and adult Bald Eagles on a two mile stretch of the Yuba River one year that were eating salmon carcasses...that was when there were salmon carcasses to eat.
Now that we've fixed the eagle issue, on to the salmon problem!

Here in NE Mn. no fresh fruit ,but I take smoked fish and maple syrup to farmer friends. One guy will not eat fish but his wife always wants to know when we are coming back.
