Here's what I'm planning for Pheasant Fest

Try on a bunch of stuff. Extra crispy 🥓 boots, an initial rise vest, hopefully they've got some selection of upland pants, I need some for late season. If I see the federal guy I'll ask how the irregular shaped pellets in savanna squall shells are supposed to be more better. If governor Kristi is there inquiries will be made as to why the roadside count was nixed. Definitely gonna look for Joel and hopefully get to hold a cute golden retriever puppy. My buddy Jerry will be working with a gun vendor so I'll catch up with him. Any hunting lodges I'll take a pass on, but will drop goose's email in their box so they can reach out to him. I gotta fit all this in before the sun goes down. Then it'll be time to hightail it out of Minneapolis. Beyond that I can't say. Oh, I'll definitely check out the new A5's if they're around. Might be time to carry an auto loader next season. And I can't afford one of those mint Belgium FN ones, even though I know they're the pinnacle of John Browning's engineering.

Share a couple pictures, if your plan on taking any so those of us who can’t make it can live vicariously through you.

Think I will plan to attend next year, already had a Cancun trip poorly timed for this year.

I am with you on the A-5… missing twice isn’t enough anymore. I have a Monte but it’s a 12 and I don’t know if I can give up the 16 gauge yet

I like PF, I like what they stand for (habitat, grass roots / local involvement), lobby Congress for conservation vs. Big Ag ... but they kind of have also sold out to their sponsors. I am not much for the magazine anymore ... I usually can peruse through it in 20 minutes. Rooster Road Trip was OK but glad to see it sunset. They should have never specified more than what state they were in. No mention of county, town or more importantly the public land they were hunting on. Remember they have biologists on the ground that can help the Road Trippers finds good spots, but sharing beyond that ... no

To the show ...

Don't need a thing right now. Maybe a new pair of boots, but I will buy what I wear now.

Vest is 20 years old (could be 30) by GM and serves me well. Most of the time I wear old jeans and an old sweatshirt with maybe a wicking undershirt. Winter pants are Amazon, relatively inexpensive, and amazing. I hunt light ... those gear laden guys on TV ... why ?

My older truck and the way I dress may suggest that I am a local or a bit down and out ... far from it actually.

I get a little annoyed with all the outfitters there commercializing the sport, but now I just don't let it bother me. Bus loads of sports all shooting at the same bird ... 20 limits in two walks ... your dogs not in front of you ... NO THANK YOU!

I have found that many of the gun guys are there just to chat with each other :sneaky: I may look, but if I want to buy I go to the gun shop.

If I go it will be to look at the strange breeds of dogs there and stop by my Brittany breeder and talk about my 2027 puppy plans.

I have Belgian Browning A5s. Pretty much sit in the gun safe. Full choke. I am not a big fan of the hump back although I shot one when I was a youngster at times.

I love the Beretta auto. Mine is now a bit beat down with a wood stock and a black fiberglass forearm because I replaced the wood forearm twice and broke them too. Have to admit I picked up a Benelli Monte the other day and loved the feel - not enough to buy it. I would probably scoop one up if it came in a 16. Limiting the auto to a 16 creates a situation where you just don't get to buy an auto.

Wrestling with buying a double 12 ... can't decide through B 626 for clays or a lighter version for hunting ,,, both ? I have a light 20 ga. double for ruffed grouse, but that barrel is too short for the prairie most days.

I have my FIL's dad's model 12 in 16 gauge. He had it serviced, but when I pulled the trigger the firing pin did not impact the primer. Need to get that fixed ...

Brother had a 28ga Rem 1100 ... he traded it in ... I would have paid him far more than he got on trade, but he never told me what he was doing. I do not know why he got rid of that gun. It was great on early sharptails, decent on ruffed grouse, and he killed a lot of pheasants over his dogs points ... I digress.

I have been handed quite a few guns from relatives and purchased plenty. I have only sold one gun off in my entire life. It was a Mossberg Bantam I bought for my son. Came with a rifled deer slug barrel too. The manufacturing tolerances were absolute crap. Sold it and got a Browning 20 ga. micro BPS ... which I should have started with in the first place.

May be this in 16 and the B 626 in 12. I have shared on another site that I am upgrading now before I retire. Fishing, hunting, tools, etc...
