Here we are - the best time of the year

This is a great weekend for me, the last weekend in August, and soon the beginning of the best five months of the year. There is no better time than the days between Sept 1 and the end of January. It's cool this weekend and the days are getting shorter, which is a strong indicator that we are about the begin this joyous time. My dog senses it too. The months between Jan and August seem to drag on but the months between Sept and Jan race by.

I'm ready and this is it.

Landman, your right on, I ran the labs in the fields this morning as it was finally cool enough, they were bouncing off the walls when I put the chaps on. They ran into one family group of pheasants and were wild eyed with excitement at the flush. We've been working all summer on drills and general conditioning but this morning marked the start of the fall, they felt it. We'll start the season in ND Oct. 10th, by the close of season we'll have hunted ND/SD 4 or 5 times. All big projects around the house are done, were ready to go!

I suppose my wife might argue with you but I agree. Come 1 Sep Dove season opens and just a few weeks later here comes the rosters. By Jan I will have used up all of my points and then some with the wife and will need the next 7 months to rebuild them.
