Here Comes Yogi......

Yep here it comes and that's a really good thing--Platte has had just over 3 inches of moisture so far this month--hope we get a lot more :D

Chris 1.73 inches of rain in the last 48 hours here in Platte--it was about time as we really needed it.

Yes Jim, I woke up to a wet bed and glad it was not from me but a leaky roof. Raining right now at lodge. Timely rains for farmers and birds. There is not much around for insects but this rain will bring them out as the new broods rely on them. Also the CRP I planted last fall had not come up cuz top 2-3 inches of topsoil was dusty dry. Now it is soaked and am seeing some emergence.

Just made a 1500 mile loop, much of it in South Dakota. North East up by Watertown was wet, water standing and even some snow/ice down in the cavities of some creek bottoms. As we went west, the drier it got all the way to Pierre. Lots of dust flying behind those who were planting. Really dry in Charles Mix. Much of the grass at my place is dead from no rain all last summer. The lake is way down. 6 tree's died in my yard from drought, more of them look like they could be dead too, haven't leafed out yet.

Chris, that grain drill will go 75 MPH down the Hwy. It made the 500 mile trek back to Minnesota. Thank you for the delivery to the cabin and the generous price.

The fresh rains are much appreciated by so many. They need so much more.

I see it is raining again for you folks. Hope it gets things started and Chris I hope your new plantings are loving this. Chuck , loss of trees is a tuff deal. When trees start to die off especially well established ones , you know it is bad. Beautiful here today. Around 65!! I like this!!! Went from snow to 88-89 degrees then to this nice weather.

Well.....I just got stuck in the yard with the fertilizer cart. Yep...mud! Had to lock it in park it on gravel and get tractor to move it in shed. Been raining since I pulled it in yesterday afternoon.

Starting to see some shoots in grass emerge in the newly fall planted 140 acres of CRP. Can see some of the planted rows now. Seed is 1/2" which is where I wanted it so hope most did not blow away in the 40mph winds when planting.

got 40 more acres to plant into CRP now and 20 acres of milo plots. Do not know when we will be able to get back in field due to moisture. Nice problem to have:D
