Hefty's Promote Riparian buffers

On AG-PHD tonight, the Hefty boys spent a good deal of time talking about the benefits and function of riparian buffers. They made a good point , and I share in this thought, that there is much good ground in CRP that should be farmed and a lot of area next to waterways being farmed that should be in CRP.

That can't be true. I thought the Hefty boys were the spawn of satan. That is the point I have been arguing for a long time. Land owners they need to put large chunks of ground into CRP in order to create habitat for animals, while really saying I want more birds to hunt, and telling the, if they dont it is beasue they are greedy and dont care about the future they are leaving for children is not a winning proposition. Riparian buffers and programs like it make more sense to producers thought process and bottom line.

The Hefty Boys are not all bad, but the reason they need the riparian buffers is to avoid the erosion entering the system from all the drainage and tiling.
If anyone in the Sioux Falls area wants to see the wreakage go 1 mile east of Lyons ie 468 Ave between 252 and 253rd St. Stop in at the Cedar looking house west of the T and I'll buy you a beer and show you the pups.
