Taking out towards Dodge and Jetmore for annual Phez gathering...gonna stop at Byron Walker and maybe kick up some quail while I wait for my Missouri brethren to roll in tonight...

I love this game!
 
Good luck and enjoy. Unfortunately, my gun is staying in the case this weekend.
 
Walker gets hammered, lots of deer hunters around there right now...find some walk in or better, knock on a door or two, but remember, deer season is on and permission will be hard to come by until Dec. 13.

I have good friends who farm just north of you around colony and westphalia.
Used to hunt their farms every quail opener from 96 thru 2005....then the birds numbers dropped to very poor results.

On good hunts we moved 8-15 coveys per day...

Are the birds making a comeback?

There are still a few birds in SEK, but we don't even bother hunting them anymore. Its too discouraging to 'maybe' get into 1 covey in pastures that used to have 6 or 7 coveys. All my family is around Neodesha. I currently live on the Missouri side of Pittsburg. All the old timers around here that had several bird dogs back in the good ol' days don't even keep one anymore.

If we shoot quail, its while we're pheasant hunting out west.

you done any good at hillsdale this year i always liked that area just for quail hunting but i dont get them every time i havent been this year.
