Well damn! Now I know what a bomb cyclone looks and feels like! At least the temperatures were a little warmer than they forecasted. It was raining when we arrived and it was raining when we left. Getting on any back roads was a non starter. We tried to go to a hun and chukar spot one day but couldn't get there. So, we focused on quail and pheasants and aside from being wet and cold every day all day, or if you were wearing wet weather gear, hot and sweaty, the hunting was really good. 4 of us went and killed limits of California quail and were one pheasant short of our limit over the three days. As far as pheasants, I saw more roosters and many many more hens this year than I have since I was a kid. Hopefully, the winter and next spring treats them well because next year could be even better.
