Heading out to Dodge City this weekend. We will be hunting in/around that area. Wondering how much snow is there on the ground? I been checking the NOAA website and they are saying that with the cold temps during the day and night that the snowpack won't be melting much by this weekend that there is another front coming in Saturday thru Sunday with chance of precip.

I am looking forward to our last hoorah for the season!!

Anyone have or know different on the weather out there?

Greg

We are headed to an area south of there this afternoon. Looking forward to our first Kansas pheasant hunt! I have seen just cold weather and overcast for the rest of this week. Haven't seen any precip in the forecast but I guess it depends on which one you look at.

Greg, they have a little snow I believe. M.R. Byrd lives down there and he might step out in his slippers and measure it for you if you P.M. him. It might have blown away by now also!!! LOL. Small chance of precip over the weekend. There are still plenty of birds though!!

Hard to tell how much we got, but maybe two to three inches. It really packed into catch areas and had them full, say a foot or better in places. Overcast was replaced with bright sunshine about 3PM yesterday. It is 21 degrees and sunny at moment and sun isn't melting that much snow.

As for the weekend:
Hi/lo

Thursday 36/23
Friday 47/25

Yikes! That's going to make for a muddy mess. Maybe the birds will be less inclined to run for fear of getting their track shoes muddy.:D

How concerned should one be with the conditions of back roads?

The roads I have been travelling should be fine because everything blew across or was caught in the fields. Roads that had some feature, such as weeds or grass in the ditch or a depressed road that drifted might be another situation.

The wind here was from the NW so the north-south roads and the east-west roads had an equal opportunity to drift.

Just be smart.

Snow

In Meade, it stopped snowing yesterdy. Probably 2-3" total accumulation. Pretty spotty now, the sun took most of it today.

With an adequate set of tires, and 4WD, I'm never scared of back roads! Turn that corner and let er' rip! I usually put it into low gear just before stopping though, just in case. And it's never a bad idea to carry a winch with ya.

Please do not tear up the roads. It makes the locals upset, and we don't need that, for our future hunting.
Thanks

Our county boys are out with the blades just as soon as it dries up. Got to keep the school buses, feed trucks, and water trucks moving.
