I do not have an issue with the T-Tags if implemented. I know it will save some farms from being leased as the farmer who still likes to hunt and has family that hunts can generate a little revenue in the form of a tresspass fee. This not only will not lock up his land it is also perfectly legal as it is not selling wildlife (tag must be sold at face value plus transfer cost) If you are really good at knowing how the system works in Kansas you actually sell them lodging and pay the hotel tax and not money to access your land thus protecting you from any liability. If a land owner opens their land for outdoor recreation and does not charge an access fee there is no liability if a person was to get hurt under Kansas law. I am for it if it helps land owners out financially as every little bit helps.
Now on to if I grant you access to my ground I always give written permission from XX-XX date to XX-XX date. I dont want my ground to become a free for all with a dozen feeders and stands or a hunting party of 20 of your buddies who hunt it once then think they all have access to it when ever they want as I have family members that hunt as well. Hunters need to remember who has to generate the income and pay taxes to keep the land operating year around and not just the few months during hunting season when you want access or see a game there you wish to pursue. We all as landowners and hunters need to understand one thing. If I let you hunt it is like letting you into my house and should be treated as such. Just because a home owner invites you over for dinner you dont show up every night and bring all your friends. Communication is the best tool. There are always plenty of places to go work your dogs or hunt a deer that the state has provided to the public that your taxes pay for. It not always be the best hunting but it is there for the public to use. I understand that having a place to hunt is nice and is sometimes hard to come by so do your part as hunter to communicate (call when heading out) and gain that written permission. It will only take a few minutes of your time to send a letter in the off season with a stamp included. If that is just to hard drive out there and do it in person before hunting season.
Good luck to all who are gearing up for Turkey season or heading out fishing. Speaking of fishing how many of you guys spend as much time looking for a private fishing spot as you do a hunting spot? Something to thing about.
