I am looking for someone who has property to hunt in SD. I have a good hunting dog that loves to hunt. I don't want any high priced clubs though. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Unfortunately you and about 50,000 other hunters are looking for the same thing. Tough to come by these days, even for us residents. If you aren't willing to pay a few hundred a day in trespass fees there is not a lot of private land available. Public land and road ditches are your best bet. But it never hurts to stop and knock on a door or two. You just might find an accommodating landowner. And if you are fortunate enough to find a landowner that will let you hunt be prepared with some small gift of appreciation and cultivate that relationship.
I don't mind paying $200 a day if I new which ranch to pick. I have hunted near Pierre a couple of times but that property is not available anymore. Any places you can recommend would be great. I just don't want a fancy lodge and meals for $1200 for a couple of days hunting planted birds. My wife and I just want to hunt with our dog.

man i feel you well my hunting group feels you we gave 5-6 guys and like 4 hunters have never hunted sd so they would like some daily pay to play private lands to fall back on say for 2-3 days ive contacted 2-3 guys my cousin the same we got the same type responce from all "its just to far out to book daily pay hunts now" these same places offer guides and or lodgeing on site for more $ so i understand the guides would rather commit to the larger groups with bigger $$$ we dont need a farmhoues lodge or cabin just some private lands to add to our public lands we want to hunt...
i wonder has anybody herd of or know of a guide opperation that only offers daily hunts not 1 wear u need 6-12 guys or u cant book a hunt etc.?

Try "Dakota hunting trips " this site has a big list some may work if not just "google" what ever you are looking for in SD some of the local towns have a list of private ground hunts on the chamber of commerce web sites -- let the web be your friend
we decided after talking to 3-5 pay to play guides and even a few guys on the forums to just skip the guided route seems like its to early to book up 2-4 days of daily hun ts with 5-6 guys ??? seems the guides would rather book a full servise hunts with guides lodgeing and daily hunts all included i dont blame them but u think 1 could help us out???
if u call closer to the season they give u the its to close to the season excuse so cant win it seems unless u know the write people and or book early a yr in advance after ur hunt??
got 1 more guy to chat with but i think sd public lands is in our future less hassle and save some $$$
all the places i chatted with were listed or googled so the computer was my friend just not the guides... most only out for $$$ it seems at least ??? a few addmitted as much a few just flaked out and never got back to me at all u tell me what that says??? not good biz to say they least met both on this forum...
uguide is looking better every day when u compare some guys daily hunt fees maybe in dec??? after we see how bird #s area early on in sd...
