Hard to believe

Hard to believe, but this was the view at my job site the last month on lake Carlos, in Alex. They left on Wednesday finaly. I think it had to be slower in southern duck blinds this year. And of coarse MN always closes just before it gets real good.:D

I'll be damned. I knew there were ducks. Yes it was real slow in missouri duck blind and flooded lake we worked on all freakin summer. Oh well maybe next year.

I am sure the birds will be on the move soon with the colder temps heading our way this week.

What ever happened with Texas did they ever get any rain to fill in the lakes that dried up down there

Goldeneye,

No the lakes are still down.

Well, I was wrong, I know hard to believe.:D, But they are still here:confused: at least 4,000+ all in the air landing in the same field a mile from home after work, and they were still on the lake this morning, keeping one open area out there yet. I have never seen any thing like it.

That picture, the birds actually stretched for about a half mile. I did not take it. I took my camera to work and the next morning they were in the middle of the lake. Bummer, I was 30' from them for over a month and just kept forgetting my camera. The home owner has some better ones but can't seem to email them to me. It is just weird, when we normally drive on the ice in Nov early Dec. Not this year.

FCS,

I'm started to get worried, that this may be a sign of an early spring and another devastating summer. I hope I'm wrong. But enjoy the view, as it is rare. :coolpics:

I'm thinking a good reason to petition the state to lengthen the season as it should be here. We have dealt with watching them fly bye for years, just to let the southern boys mop up. I quit hunting them because of that alone. It sucks, we get opening weekend and thats about it for real fun state wide as a rule. All the locals head to the refuges, and the northerns come through just after season ends, every dang year. Yea once and a while you hit it, but most years it is depressing, despite the #'s they claim we shoot.

FCS, I'm a couple hundred miles North of you. We still have tons of geese on the river. They fly up over the ranch daily feeding in the big fields just to the South and West. Not to unusual for us here though, many geese Winter on the river and many leave when they no longer can feed in the fields.

ducks

This weekend I drove down to shakopee from Minneapolis and came across a pond next to the Minnesota with a couple hundred mallards and geese in it. Today on my way to Duluth near Forest Lake I saw several flocks of ducks looking for a place to land. I for one will be writing the dnr asking for the waterfowl season to be extended rather than the early start last year.
