grouse vs pheasant

Im just curious. Why is it that I always hear gsp's are better pheasant dogs,and english setters are better grouse dogs? what makes a gsp better than a es at pheasants.and what makes a es better than a gsp at grouse.

Shorthairs ground scent, due to the hound influence in there pedigree, in a running bird it is an advantage. There have been beagles who were more than passable pheasant dogs. I had a redbone hound who was great as a quail hunter, not much at night but ready in the morning.
